No sound with notifications tho on

Hi

I'm not getting sounds for notifications on my new iPhone X, ios 11.1.

An example, Messenger. In Settings>Notifications, notifications is on and sound is on, and I've looked at the App itself in the Settings list, but I get no sound to alert me.

Any ideas what to do?

Could your phone be set to silent/vibrate? Could you have Do Not Disturb enabled?

Yes, I just figured it out. Sorry, new to iphone, that button beside the volume, which i'd forgotten about, is the mute button and it was on.

But thanks for the reply, I was just about to do so myself.
