No sounds or notifications with iMessages.

I've turned on the notifications and sound in Settings but it doesn't work, I get notifications on my iPod touch and Mac. Anyway to solve this problem?
I use an iPad Air2.

Do you get the messages just not the notifications?

Yes, I get the messages, everything works fine except I do not get notified when a message comes in.

I hate to say it we need to cover the basics. Under settings > notifications > messages you have allow notifications and alert style set to banners correct?

Yes, it is all set just like on my iPod touch and Mac.
