No startup chime in new MacBook Pro?

Italian press reports that the "bong" or startup chime won't be present in future Macs

If this is true it's another part of history we are gonna be missing, it is sad to see what Apple is becoming!!! (yes it is just a sound, but iconic and "important" as it was used as hardware diagnostic).

Honestly...I won't be missing that. I always thought it was something annoying and kind of inconvenient at times (imagine a meeting or middle of the night and BOUUUUUUWWWWWNNNNNNNNN).

Good. It should never have been present in the first place. It can make you look highly unprofessional in a lot of circumstances.

That is if you turn off your computer all the time.... and if you are professional, it isn't a simple startup sound that will make you less so.
