No tax for University students?

Myfriend told there is no tax for university students when they by a Mac. i dont think this is true at all but can someone confirm this for me. I'm in canada by the way, if that makes a difference.

not true, at least not in the united states. education discount does not equate to "no tax." the prices are reduced, yes, but one still has to pay taxes on the computer if applicable (that is, if the state has sales tax).

^It's the same here in Canada.

You will pay taxes on your purchase, even if an Education discount has been applied.
Oh, and don't forget your province's electronics disposal fee, which is also taxable.
