No tethering on 2G iPhone?

Just wanted to see if I had missed this piece of info.

I just upgraded to 3.0 using Pwnage Tool. Spent some time restoring, trying out different .ipcc's etc, but no tethering option showing up.

Does the original iPhone support tethering at all?

Just want to make sure that the JB process doesn't have anything to do with the option not showing up under General-Network.

Yeah, I did go through help.benm.at but still nothing, so I guess that tethering does not work for the 2G iPhones.

Started reading up on PDAnet yesterday, sounds ok, but must drain your battery very fast unless you use USB and their desktop app which is only available for Windows at the moment.

PDAnet has gotten mixed reviews to say the least =).

There is a lot of speculation on PDAnet. Yes the free/cracked version of PDAnet of ver 1.33 does drain your battery as it was one of the initial releases. However the paid version $30 of ver 1.53 has resolved that issue in its early on releases.

Note: If you just surf, you can get the 1.53, but you won't be able to surf the https:// protocols. IMO get the 1.53 and you won't regret it. It anyways has a 15 day trial for free so give it a go.

What you are saying sounds very tempting to say the least. So most of the "the battery dies way to fast" reviews might be from incorrect in regards to the latest version released?

Well, the least I can do is to JB again, install Cydia, and give PDAnet a go.

Keep in mind Apple officially also said tethering is not possible until later this year with AT&T, but this is exactly what the BenM hack accomplishes. I'm not convinced, and am still looking for a tethering solution for my 2g.
