Curious why there's no option available on Apple's trade up program for last year's model.

Yeah, it's probably best to sell privately.

I usually “sell” my old devices to friends or family, meaning I give it to them and sometimes accept some token payment like $20 if they insist. But this time, having ordered the new iPad, I decided that I could only justify the purchase if I sell my Mini 4 for a decent amount, more than the $175 CDN that Apple offers for trade in. So I’m going to try selling on Facebook Marketplace for the first time.

I traded-in my iPad Air and iPad 3 with Best Buy last fall, as they seemed to have the best offers. I just checked and the 5th gen isn’t up yet with them either.

I typically am not a fan of selling privately but I was able to sell mine on Swappa last night for $281 after Swappa fees and paypal fees. Another place i typically use cashforyourmac was offering $190 for a flawless screen and good condition if you dont want to bother with selling on swappa or here.

Best Buy was the best deal I ever had trading my iPad Air for an iPad Pro 9.7. I was shocked how much they gave me for the iPad Air. I think after my trade, and the other discounts, my iPad Pro 9.7 was under $150 out the door.

Agree. I checked most of the other trade-in sites last year, and they were at the top. Bless their souls. I guess best is what they really mean. Good store and value on their Apple products when on sale.

through May 5, Best Buy is guaranteeing a minimum $125 Best Buy Gift Card for any good and working iPad mini 2 (with Retina display), mini 3, mini 4, Air, Air 2, iPad Pro or iPad (5th generation).

Ya they do, and for some odd reason when you click to get an estimate there is no option for the iPad 5th Gen
