What's the best way to get an iphone 12 pro max with no trade in at the moment ? I'm assuming if I open a new line of service with a carrier I'll be stuck with them for over 3 months and that their discounts are only applicable as bill credits.

Why don't you just buy a used iphone 8 on swappa for $200 and trade it in?

You're not stuck with a carrier if you're getting bill credits. You just have to pay off the device. So IF you want to leave after a year you pay the remaining balance. That's still a win.

Wouldn't this be a good offer only if one wanted to be an AT&T customer?

Meaning you receive bill credits via your monthly statement for the duration of staying with them as a customer.

Pay for the phone in full. If you want, sign on to do the monthly payment plan and then pay it off any time you want. That way you don't have to worry about waiting on bill credits and all the other games the carriers like to play.

Most of the deals these days are through bill credits. If you want freedom to switch carriers on a whim than you're not getting a flagship phone for cheap. But, if you can stick with one carrier for 30 months you can get an iphone for almost nothing. Pick your poison.

So doing this method will get $xxx dollars off the price during check out ?

Yeah I think you're right. I'll just go to apple and buy it.

What I did was open a credit card with a signup bonus of $200 credit after $1000 spend and used that card for the iphone purchase at full price from apple. there are cards out there with even higher sign up bonuses too.

That’s ok... I have visible that cost me $25 total a month. I gladly pass any offers from other carriers where my bill will be 2 or 3 times more than my $25/month.
got my 12 pro max with Apple credit card installments. I’m happy.
