Gents,

I bought a refurbished mBP 2011 off eBay this Monday24th but only received it on Thursday 27th , I regret it it turns out that I may have bought a lemon.

When I plug in a cable into firewire port, there is NO VIDEO, but there is audio.

Is this a sign that the graphics card is beginning to fail???

The seller has said "check the port for dust", I have already done it

Please advise, I have a few days to return it.

Thank you.

Do a search for Radeongate. 2011 MBPs with Dedicated graphics tend to fail quickly and only temporary fix is replacing the logic board before the issue comes back again after a while. it looks like the dedicated graphics gets overheated quickly before it just fails and the only way to use the mac is to force the mac to boot to the built-in GPU. my recommendation is to return it and buy a different model instead.

Thank you the reply, I have already messaged the seller on eBay advising him that I will be return the laptop via parcelforce in the morning.

Thank you for your reply and advice.
