no wifi

i have a iphone 3g running on 4.2.1 05.15.04 which is factory unlocked and i have no wifi tried everything like resetting networking settings etc is there a way to fix it

Is it unable to connect to any wifi? Friends, families ect?
If yes, then try restoring and set it up as new in iTunes.
Note: You will lose all data in this process, so save what you can in external programs like Outlook, Photos ect.

I doubt a restore will fix a broken wifi chip but give it a shot if you want anyway.
You will need to bring it to an iphone repair shop to replace the wifi module on the logic board.
