I thought it was rumored to have wireless charging so they got around this somehow. The iPads have metal in the back, and you can't do wireless charging through metal (every wireless charging implementation currently uses plastic or glass or ceramic). They would have to switch to glass backs and that isn't ideal on an iPad since it's a large surface with more exposure than the iPhone.

Man I dont want the extra cables. I'll take slow wireless charging over night given they rarely need to be charged.
yeah - that' clear.Apple did not “get around” this somehow. It was a rumor. Period.
yeah - that' clear.
But given the crazy high price I don't think this is a feature they should have left out and I hope they add it later.
the trend in tech for 25 years has been more power every year and cheaper. So, uh yeah?Do not think the prices are crazy high. You are getting a new faster processor, larger screen and FaceID. Did you think it would be cheaper?
Meh. When is it considered “crazy high”? $50 I would scoff at. When something is $200 more this year than last year, I start to understand people’s frustration a little bit. Not like I’m boycotting Apple or anything, but that was a substantial price increaseDo not think the prices are crazy high. You are getting a new faster processor, larger screen and FaceID. Just because apple has pressure from wall street to boost revenue, I don't think the answer is to boost prices just because they ran out of creative ideas.
Did I miss that in the presentation? Why would they not include that or did I just miss it?
And wouldn’t Face ID not add much to cost since they’ve spent more than a year making those components? Stuff gets cheaper over time. And the screen isn’t oled. It’s a nice display with some neat upgrade, but when we went from iPad Pro gen 1 to 2 and got promotion they didn’t increase the price by $200the trend in tech for 25 years has been more power every year and cheaper. yeah pretty insane price increase for a $7 part and shrinking the devices and the latest chip. And wouldn’t Face ID not add much to cost since they’ve spent more than a year making those components? You work for apple?I absolutely understand people’s frustration, but I could tell with Apple’s aggressive prices on their latest phones that they were not scared of sticker shock. The new iPads are offering larger screens, faster A12 processor and then there is the FaceID which is a major cost.
I know people are upset, it is to be expected.
