Did I miss that in the presentation? Why would they not include that or did I just miss it?

Wireless charging is slow ass dog poo already on phones. Can you imagine the heat coming off that thing on a gigantic iPad battery? And how long that would take? Apple can’t even release AirPower. A product they announced more than a year ago. So to have something as ambitious as wireless charging on a tablet is probably not realistic right now.

USB c should be faster anyway. And for me personally, I don’t find wireless charging that much more convenient on my xs max

Wireless charging would never offer adequate speeds to charge an ipad unfortunately as we know it today. at best it's 10w charging. Would take like a full day to charge an ipad. Wired charging is slow enough as it is

The iPads have metal in the back, and you can't do wireless charging through metal (every wireless charging implementation currently uses plastic or glass or ceramic). They would have to switch to glass backs and that isn't ideal on an iPad since it's a large surface with more exposure than the iPhone.

I thought it was rumored to have wireless charging so they got around this somehow.

Man I dont want the extra cables. I'll take slow wireless charging over night given they rarely need to be charged.

Do not think the prices are crazy high. You are getting a new faster processor, larger screen and FaceID. Did you think it would be cheaper?
the trend in tech for 25 years has been more power every year and cheaper. So, uh yeah?

Just because apple has pressure from wall street to boost revenue, I don't think the answer is to boost prices just because they ran out of creative ideas.

Meh. When is it considered “crazy high”? $50 I would scoff at. When something is $200 more this year than last year, I start to understand people’s frustration a little bit. Not like I’m boycotting Apple or anything, but that was a substantial price increase

You are not talking about Apple as their prices have never gone down for their new cutting edge tech, so, uh no!

wireless charging caps out around 7.5W it's like charging your iPad with a 5W brick while trying to use it at the same time... you think it should charge but the power consumption > power being put back in, your ipad in current use would drop very fast than what wireless charging can provide, not to mention it can overheat severely as a result due to the nature of Qi-wireless charging...

physics boi look it up 101.

And wouldn’t Face ID not add much to cost since they’ve spent more than a year making those components? Stuff gets cheaper over time. And the screen isn’t oled. It’s a nice display with some neat upgrade, but when we went from iPad Pro gen 1 to 2 and got promotion they didn’t increase the price by $200

yeah pretty insane price increase for a $7 part and shrinking the devices and the latest chip.

I absolutely understand people’s frustration, but I could tell with Apple’s aggressive prices on their latest phones that they were not scared of sticker shock. The new iPads are offering larger screens, faster A12 processor and then there is the FaceID which is a major cost.

I know people are upset, it is to be expected.

you do have to realize the A12x is matching pretty much what most of current pc's core processors clock at not to mention graphic performance... so while yes it might suck for a lot, remember the ipad pro was destined for work use... as a photographer myself who needs this kind of performance, this is neat for me as this helps me streamline my workflow into precise touch (which my pc does not do currently well)...

if you're buying it as an entertainment device then you're not utilizing it's maximum potential... it was mostly designed for work too otherwise why tout the pro apps improvements over the presentation?

You work for apple?

It's hard to get "around" physics. Metal would literally block the magnetic induction. You have to use plastic or glass or ceramic, perhaps put it in the Apple logo, I don't know.

Honestly I keep up with the rumors and I never saw anything about the iPad having wireless recharging.
