I downloaded "The Witcher 2" on my mac, but when I click on the game to play it, I get this error message : "Write access is denied to critical file '/Volumes/The Witcher 2/The Witcher 2/Data/witcher2.vpfs'! Game cannot be started. Please ensure that the game has full access to folder '/Volumes/The Witcher 2/The Witcher 2/Data' and all its contents."

What should I do?

Once I open the dmg. it just gives me the icon of "The Witcher 2", then I drag it into the applications folder, click on it, and it still gives me the same error message.

It worked thanks a lot! My mac just doesn't have a good enough graphics card. Do you know any good gaming desktops for a reasonable price?

I am having the same issue. I replicated the steps in the video, as always when installing an application. Unlike the OP, after doing so and clicking the Witcher 2 icon I did not receive the same error message, but a new one:

"File '/Applications/Data/witcher2.vpfs' is missing - game cannot be started. It looks like the game isn't fully installed, as the data files are not in place. Please try to reinstall it."

I then dragged the Witcher 2 folder, which includes the Data folder, to Applications as well. I tried again to open the game, but again received the above message.

Hi I registered on this forum only to reply to you! Because I had the same problem..., this is the solution: you must only open once through Finder with right-click>open to allow it to be opened afterward. I followed these instructions found below (but used BetterZip) : " It works. Checked on Mountain Lion, Macbook Pro 2012 13 inch. 1. Download. 2. Unrar using UnrarX. I got errors when using other programs. 3. Double click the dmg. 4. Copy the data and app to a folder in your Applications folder 5. Double click the app to play. 🙂 "
you need to copy the witcher app file AND the large DATA folder into applications folder!
