I'm surprised we haven't seen a post about someone's attempt. I'm personally too *********** to be the guinea pig.

*edit - yeah, subject line typo, mea culpa

Well I know a couple of the Jailbreak devs are getting iPad 2s judging by their twitter feeds so I assume they'll try.

We're SOL right now. Not only is the Limerain exploit closed, but the SHAtter one is as well. I think this brings the JB community back to square one.

Don't be so melodramatic. The developers who find these jailbreaks are extremely good at what they do, and I doubt it will be long before another exploit is found.

how long did it take to develop a JB for the last ipad after the new iOS software update came out? WOuld that be an indication of how long it would take to JB our new Ipad2s?

The issue is the bootloader exploits have been closed off, which then limits it to Userland JB or finding a new hardware/firmware exploit (or using one not yet disclosed).

This isn't just an OS upgrade, we're dealing with a new hardware setup.

I want to be optimistic as well, I love my JB'd iDevices, but I think we'll be waiting 6 months or more.

Six months seems a little extreme. Before the end of April is probably a better estimation.

Do you really think that? It took 3+ months to get 4.2.1 JB'en and that was dealing with the same physical systems. We have new hardware here, a new OS (sporting new addressing schemes) and the two most popular (and publicly known) exploits closed off.

While I have all the gratitude to those who have worked on the various teams to make it happens before, I will be surprised if we see any full JB'en iPod2 (meaning an untethered kernel level exploit) before June.

I never had a problem with tethered on my iPad, I would not do this with my phone though.

I'm a little hessident as I'm not an expert NY any means. I'll wait to see how some of the more technically inclined folks fair with this before doing it.

I do miss my jailbreak though. Especially the scrolling dock and SBS settings!

It's a start, but it's tethered.

That's only iOS 4.3 on 1st Gen iPad's, Phones and Pods. Currently there is nothing for the iPad2.

The issue isn't the OS, its the bootloader which is new and old holes patched.

Congrats to @comex for jailbreaking yet another brand new device (iPad2) while 2500 miles away from it!

@9to5mac (yeah: that's my iPad 2, not @comex's: he jailbroke it remotely)

I say freaking sweet can't wait hope it's as easy as jailbreakme was :D

If its legit AND gets released timely, I know I'll be sending him a nice donation.

I'm curious if he found a new hole or is using a backdoor he found and never disclosed.
