So Cal
I’m a big fan of folios. I like being able to hold my phone by the cover in my left hand and use my right hand to type, etc. I also like the cover protecting the screen when in my pocket and while on my desk. I have purchased them for years from numerous companies. I usually end up with a case from Vaja Cases. This year I ordered an Apple folio, Zover wallet and the Nodus Access Case 3. My main desire is being able to easily remove my iPhone from the folio to use in my DJI gimbal. I have several bumper cases, which I place my phone into when using the gimbal. Long story short, the Nodus Access Case 3 is my favorite folio. I did have an Access Case 2 for my iPhone 7 Plus.

The Access Case 3 is really nice. The iPhone attaches to the folio via a strip of micro suction material. The hold is strong. With the Access Case 2, the hold was perfect after several months of on and off use. The folio is slightly longer and wider than the X, so all sides are protected with the case closed. If you drop your iPhone and the front cover opens, there is no screen protection. Last year my 7 Plus did slide out of my pocket with the Access 2 and it landed closed. I’m not really concerned. The leather looks, feels and smells really nice. The front cover lays flat against the screen. I love the ability to quickly fold the Access Case into a stand. It’s also really nice to feel the sides and bottom of the X when swiping. There are no magnets in the case so the X doesn’t automatically wake or sleep. That’s ok for me. In comparison, the Zover wallet case has magnets and the cover does stay shut, but the magnets mess with the camera. I’m really pleased with the Access Case 3 and highly recommend it.

- nice soft leather
- slim
- folds into a stand
- the cover lays flat against the screen
- the inside pocket is vertical, so if I place a card inside I don’t think it will touch the iPhone screen, only the soft leather pocket (call me weird but I usually never place anything in the pockets)

Could you use it with the iPhone in a slim case?
Always wanted to try a Nodus with a case on but they're not cheap if it doesn't work out.

I was thinking about trying out one of my thin bumper cases, but they all have protectors for the camera bump and I don’t think enough of the back of the iPhone would touch the micro suction pad. Possibly a thin case would work. I had a Evutec Aer Karbon and that was thin. Might work but I don’t know if the material would stick to the micro suction. I have read that glass works best. However, it looks and feels so nice with no case at all.

I wanted to update this thread. I really like the Access Case. I especially appreciate the ability to fold it into a stand. Just about everyday I watch shows on my X. I have a little bean bag iPhone holder, but the case beats that. I have a dji Osmo Mobile so when I use it I have to remove the X from the Access Case. I don't like having the X without any protection so for the heck of it, and I had them, I decided to try out the Utomic EDGEs together with the Access Case. IMO, it is close to a match made in heaven. I'm posting some pics below. When I have the X flat on the table the Access Case appears to lay flat. On close inspection, the front cover is slightly bowed and the back of the case on the outer side is ever so slightly extended on the corners. You can see in the close up photos that the Access Case is extended. But, to me in day to day use, pulling it out of my pocket, opening the case, laying it on my desk and holding the cover with my left hand and using the X, I don't notice the imperfection. As a side note, my friend has an Apple Folio and I was closely inspecting it, and the cover is also bowed in the middle. I find it a close to perfect solution. The bottom outer EDGE does push up against the micro suction strip. I think the next time I remove the X I will place it outside a little more. Now I have absolutely no fear of dropping my X, even if the cover opens. And when I remove the X from the folio, I am covered from drops. I can't see me changing this setup for a long while. Folding the folio into a stand and resting it on my lap to watch shows or play games is too perfect.

Actually love it. Adds nothing bulk wise and allows to not baby the phone so much.
