Nokia Lumia 900 Coming to AT&T

Sales rep had it in their pocket. Nothing on display. He was kind enough to let me use it.
 
I'd get an 800 but the charging port is blocked by an annoying tab that is flimsy and bound to break after opening it everyday.

I'd get a 900 because the charging port isn't blocked by an annoying tab, but it's too big!

Why do they have to cover the charging port on the 800 with that stupid annoying tab? Horrible design!
 
Anybody here thinking of switching to the Nokia Lumia 900?

Looks like Nokia and Microsoft are going all-in with this one to try and make a dent in the US market.

So for people that have tried WP7, how does it compare to iOS? Are the live tiles really that helpful and as big a deal as people make it out to be? Is it as user friendly and intuitive as iOS? Will the learning curve be steep if somebody wants to switch over from an iPhone?

I'd take WP7 over Android any day. Easier to use and far more responsive and smooth. Decent apps and Nokia's hardware is great. If there was no iOS, i'd go WP7.
 
I want to try it out but I heard Skype and similar apps don't work in the background. I think I may wait till the Tango update

Sorry....BUT......

I still prefer the 800 for its size and hope they fix the small issues with it. Also like the newest Sony's Xperia P or U models as well. The P is the 4 incher and the U is the 3.5 incher, like iPhone 4S. Toss up with iPhone/Sony or Lumia 😀 😉

I looked into the apps available and learned that there were not many.I needed the etrade mobile app and even called etrade to see if they were working on something and they are currently not. Maybe in the future if and when windows takes off.it is a shame there aren't more apps now because I really liked the HTC titan when I looked at it.
 
My brother in-law is really looking forward to this phone, and my family is hoping my aunt might like it too. (we all want her to find a smartphone)

For him, there is a bit of "being anti-Apple is part of my identity" but my aunt just thinks iOS and Android are too complicated, and really liked the WP7 (Samsung Focus) that my brother in-law is currently carrying.

I'm looking forward to seeing it just cause I like it when the toy store gets new toys, even if I have no plans on actually buying one myself and don't really like WP7. It's kinda like the One-X, seeing a company get back up and come out with something challenging again is a beautiful thing. 🙂
 
As I said in the linked thread above, I love the look and feel of WP7, and the Lumia looks like some beautiful hardware. Another thing that people don't compliment enough is the keyboard. Probably one of the best I've used, and I'd even say it surpasses the iPhone's (iOS' autocorrect has wained recently).

The only stickler for WP7 is apps (and with that developers). It lacks them. I will know WP7 has succeeded when I can get an app like TweetBot or GoodReader on it. Until then it is a fun toy, and a great backup phone.
 
I wanted to switch to this (actually, the Lumia 800) back in the fall when it was first released in Europe.

But they waited *way* too long, and I got an iPhone 4S.

Maybe they'll time it better next year when my contract ends.
 
I've been open minded to all sorts of different devices but none of them just does the trick ... iPhone remains the king and all the others are peasants
 
I just bought a Lumia 800 and install the Skype (still in beta), and it seems that Skype supports fast app switching and also runs in background. It seems very smooth so far, but I heard that Skype will be fully baked into the OS when Apollo is released. But I may be wrong. I am kind of new to the WP environment 🙂

I keep going back and forth between the Lumia 900 and waiting for a WP8 device. My Focus is still going strong though, so I may wait...

I was liking this phone (Lumia 900) till i saw the following negatives:
- att only (welcome to the throttle house)
- 480 x 800 resolution, C'Mon Nokia get in the game!
- 16GB only! No 32GB or 64GB model

Yes, they (Microsoft) definitely need to get the resolution thing sorted with Apollo because 480x800 isnt bad for up to 4.3 inch screens IMO, but its definitely behind the pack. At least the phone is pretty cheap though.

By all accounts, Apollo will take Windows Phone up to iOS 5/ICS in terms of overall experience.
 
The Nokia Lumia 900 looks amazing and I will certainly be getting one when my iPhone contract expires in November.
