Nokia lumia vs iPhone 3GS

Should I get a Nokia lumia 800 or a :apple: iPhone 3GS it's realy hard, spec wise the lumia beats the 3GS Hands down! But I have a iPad and have owned 2 iPod touches so I'm well used to the IOS software and love iCloud. I have also spent over £100 on apps and I would to have to buy more again! The lumia is an amazing phone, for some it's in the same legue as the 4s I also have to keep the phone on a contract for 2 years so I'm woried that the 3GS is not future proof. The lumia has a better contract with unlimited Internet were the iPhone has 1gb.
The lumia 800 will possibly support tethering in the future but the iPhones network wont let you theather, it's not a big thing but it would be nice to be able to do it with the iPad.
I'm confused!:confused: HELP!!!

I got the 3GS and it's a great phone. I think Nokia are really struggling now so I've read and the Lumia is the make or break phone for them but reading your thread I think you want to stick with Apple. I think the 3GS will be future proof. It's a trusty phone and still available. Nobody can make up your mind though.

theres no contest tbh, i would chose the lumnia its a real amazing phone and if it had an app store like apples i would ditch the 4s. you cant really compare and current smartphone with a 2 year old iPhone. its just not fair tbh.

And it just that, apples amazing system vs an amazing phone that makes this decision sooooo hard!
 
Windows Phone 7 is not bad at all. Have you ever tried it?

Defenitely go for the Lumia. New hardware, has also an 8 MP camera.

Have you looked into getting an iPhone 4 (possibly 4s) sim free and using those pay monthly sims instead of being locked into a contract, that way you can stay within the Apple ecosystem and have relatively new hardware. Support for the 3gs is almost certainly gonna be dropped by this time next year for the majority of new apps. Maybe won't even get iOS6.

Becauuseeeeeee there's a 900 instead of the 800. Nokia Ace with LTE and a front camera. It's already leaked ahead of CES and they saying a March release. Looks so awesome :)

The 900 Ace is what I am waiting for. I still expect that Windows OS phones will be a real factor in the future. I figure one more generation of Win Phone after Mango and it will be a top contender. No dissing Nokia and if their 900 is even better than the 800 they are going to have a real winner on their hands. Their partnering with MS will make them a player in the market.

Apple and iOS has competition, get used to it.
 
If you're on Windows, check out the Zune software for windows if the Lumia is a serious contender.

I loved Zune and really miss using it on the PC. The whole Zune/WP7 integration is fantastic, just like what Apple have for iOS/iTunes.

If it was Lumia vs iPhone 4, the choice would be difficult but vs the 3gs, I'd go for the Lumia.

In the uk they can be found for £400 ($617) at play.com on sim free!
 
I own a lumia 800 and a iPhone 4s. I haven't used the iPhone 4s since I got the Lumia. The OS is years ahead os IOS the screen is beautiful and the 3.7 inch screen is perfect for me. The actually apps that I use are on WP7 so I don't have a problem with the smaller app selection. I use pulse, usa today, pandora, netflix, nokia maps(worth its own in gold), the integrated Facebook, and twitter. Any other apps I would use on iPhone are just not worth it for me to use the OS. The build quality of the Nokia is also amazing and the color choices are nice. If apple released the iPhone 4s in the body of the lumia with the 3.7 inch screen Apple loyalists would have been elated.
 
Is the iPhone 4 not a choice? You say you will be in a 2 year contract, but your looking at sim free phones... I'm just a little confused. Both are good phones, and it really depends on what you plan on doing with it. If your taking alot of photos then the 3gs would probably not be the best choice, but having the $100 worth of apps on my phone would. Nokia has always made pretty good phones, so honestly the choice is yours.

Noo I'm looking at a contract I was using the sim free phones to compare american prices I understand wy it may be confusing :p but the 4 is still too much Beeing £130 more to start
