Hi.
Recently purchased a nomad base station (not pro) with Apple Watch mount and I’m having issues wireless charging my AirPods Pro.
They stop charging after some minutes.
Does anybody may know the reason and if is there any solution?
The AirPods charge fine in other Qi chargers I have.
Many thanks

I have the Base Station Pro - Apple Watch edition (very similar to yours). This was a fairly common issue that Airpods or Airpods Pro wireless charging cases would charge intermittently.

There was another thread on it somewhere. Short answer is that it stop charging when the Airpods charging case gets too warm. It'll stop charging until it cools down, and then start again.

I recall from that thread that a few people tried leaving a piece of cloth in between the case and charging pad, and that would work. For me, I just leave it on for an extended period of time (I started just leaving it overnight), and when I wake up, it's 100% charged now.

Give it a try for an extended period of time, and see if eventually it's fully charged, even if it stops/starts a few times.

But is not bad for batteries to get overheated? And also the iPhones get overheated? I might consider on returning it if so. Many thanks for your help.

Generally, yes, that's true. But that's the case for all wireless charging, not just for this Nomad Base Station. If you want to do wireless charging, you accept that it's probably a bit worse for your battery's longevity (iPhone, Airpods, etc.)

For what it's worth, I've wirelessly charged my iPhone 12 Pro (since Day 1) and iPhone X before that, and continued to wirelessly charge both my Airpods 2 and my Airpods Pro (I have both), and haven't felt like either have diminished battery life at all that I've noticed.

That being said, all things equal, yes it's probably worse for your battery. The question is if the amount it's worse is so small it doesn't even matter for the general useful life of your Airpods Pro. My view is that any impact is negligible, and worth it for me for the convenience of wireless charging.

But other wireless charger do not overheat it. So that’s a difference I think. Between heat and overheat. Damn, I like that charger build quality so much. It would be a pity having to return it

If you look at that thread I quoted, it wasn't just the Nomad charger. Plenty of other Qi wireless chargers were having the same issue.

That being said, of course totally up to you - this is a more expensive charging mat (I've had mine for over 2 years now and love it), so if it doesn't do everything you wanted it to, a return might make sense.
