I'm in the UK, and putting together a cheapo second mac for spare, buying bits here & there where I can.

Are there other keyboards out there that are mac friendly, but non-apple?

I'm hoping to go cheaper.

Thanks.

pretty much any standard keyboard will, but the keys will look different (e.g. no apple, sometimes the windows key...) and once in a while some keys will be swapped.

i know at first it was confusing when control and command were swapped on my Logitech keyboard by default, but it was trivial swapping them in the preferences.

There are actually a lot of Apple-specific third party keyboards available. MacAlly is a big supplier. They have all the correct Apple keys, unlike regular PC keyboards.

Microsoft also makes a Mac keyboard.

Some people who I talk to rave about this one.

Here are some more.

Sadly, Mac specific keyboards are often pretty expensive.

Agreed. The same keyboard without the special Apple-ness costs waaaaay less, it's sorta surprising.

Plus the non-Mac-specific keyboards are available in more designs, colors and types.

Cheers.

I'll have a look & see if any of those are going cheap anywhere, I do want the proper mac keyboard layout.....
