Non ECC RAM OK in 4,1

Will non-ECC RAM 1333GHz chips work in my 4,1-5,1 MP? There is a significant price difference. I assume you cannot mix ECC and non-ECC chips even if the Non-ECC type will work.
Can someone who knows for sure let me know?

You can mix the ECC and non-ECC RAM, the ECC RAM will just works like the non-ECC RAM.

I have heard, mixing ECC and non-ECC is bad and you get an unstable system.

I recommend not mixing ECC and non-ECC.

You can also use registered ram, although you cant mix with other kinds. PC3-10600R ram is the cheapest, and although apple only officially says 8gb work, any size will work.
