I need an MP3 players, but I'm pretty tired of iPods. I've had so many of them and they're all so similar, I want to try something new. I need something that can hold around 19 hours of music and has good battery life. I'm taking a long car trip and it would really come in handy. Can anyone recommend anything? Cheap is a plus of course too.

I have a Sony 20GB NW-A3000, which I bought when I was fed up with the lame battery life of the iPods. It looks better, sounds better and has a longer battery.

Unfortunately it doesn't work with my mac. Oops.

well Creative are suing Apple for having a GUI which is too similar :p

Its hard to look past the iPods, but if they weren't around, id have a Creative in my pocket.

Creatives are cheaper than Apples and look/feel it. Funny but since their groundbreaking discman-shaped Jukebox series, all they've done is to make poor mans iPods.

iAudio players are good, and there are USB Mass Storage player plug-ins for iTunes (all iAudio's are UMS). There's the new iAudio 6 which is pretty expensive but new. iAudio U2/U3 flash players are pretty nice. 20/30gb X5s and M5's are being priced competitively these days.

iRiver is inbetween models. Nothing very attractive except the 2Gb Clix, although it might work for you (if you work out how to remove the MTP firmware and replace it with UMS).

Sony ~ ultra mehness.
