I keep coming across games that I would love to play (Asphalt 4, Real Soccer, etc.) but I am hesitant, due to thinking(wishful) that a similar game will appear with true, non-localized, multiplayer support.

I believe there are currently a few games which support this (chess, graal?), but I was wondering if we can expect to see real time games support distant multiplayer matches, whether it be just over wifi or 3g. Is there anything technical that would prevent this? If the 3g network could not handle the data flow for such real time games, why not over wifi?

Galcon can do this really well.

I'm sure it's just a familiarity with programming code for the network/iphone issue in regards to the number of games with multiplayer support. More games with multiplayer functionality will come out eventually.
