Non-Wifi Internet for iPhone?

I was wondering whether or not the iPhone could get internet from At&T like alot of cell phones/blackberries do, and if so could it do real web browsing still.

i think it's called EDGE. in other words, yes, the iphone supports non-wifi internet (the "real" internet) at non-wifi speeds. 😱
