Non X owners are hating on the Animojis

I’ve sent one and will probably send more in the future as a joke. I like having the option. I don’t see how someone could have hate towards them. You do realize that you don’t need to use it every single day for it to be a fun/useful feature, right?
 
Usage is fairly limited compared to other features, but I've sent a few using the poo emoji because it helps in elaborating an inside joke between me and the girlfriend. Adds a nice layer of lightheartedness to impassive and static text-based messages.

I thought he meant other Apple users without the X could receive them. Anyone know if Android users can receive animoji? I received one on my 8 Plus from a friend that got his X yesterday.

I orginally thought those with imessage only but not seen anybody suggest it can be used on any others

I'm pretty sure all that's sent is a video file so with that being said, any device should be able to receive and view them.

I think animojis are cool, if somewhat useless. It’s about the only feature from the X that I miss not having on my 8+. I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry over that. You be the judge of that.

I suppose there’s always facerig on the PC. But a 20"x15"x25" E-ATX cube case is a bit hard to fit in my pocket.
 
I don't have the emoji keyboard switched on. I can't see myself using the animojis. I wonder though if they are a dry run for something else more practical that would use the same tech. Something AR related maybe.

But you have to figure, Apple spent all this time developing the TrueDepth camera system for the X, why not show off its capabilities outside of Face ID? You can't see anything at work for Face ID - no interface or anything, you just look at it and your phone unlocks. It's magical in a sense, but with Animoji, you can see how amazingly accurate the TrueDepth camera system is and how it's able to map all of your facial expressions and instantly translate it to an animation. That's pretty incredible.

I don't think of it as a groundbreaking feature or major part of iOS and it's certainly not a reason to buy the X over the 8 if all other things are of no importance, but rather Apple showing off how powerful their TrueDepth camera system actually is.

I would say the best way to show off the capabilities outside of Face ID is the Selfie Portrait Lighting.

I️ use them. Their hilarious. And yes all my friends use emojis all the time. And we are in our late 30s and 40s and all have children. What’s wrong with them their funny. I️ don’t need to hate on them to feel like a grown up. I’ll be ok. I️ like to have fun.

Eh, who cares. I meh'd all over them myself, but the Karaoke made me change my mind. There's some super talented and good humored people out there. Now, I don't like the idea of being offensive with any kind of emoji, much less an animated one, and I can clearly see where some people would be greatly annoyed by them too.

So to each their own.

No jealousy here. I think it's great that people are being so creative with it. That's what I would like all my Apple devices and computers to do, to foster my creativity.
 
They are kind of fun, my nephew liked them a lot. I won't use them a ton myself, but the tech is pretty cool and it works well. Not sure why anyone would hate on them. It's just another thing that non-X users seem to bash about the X, no big deal.

I stood there for like an hour yesterday singing random stuff into them. Felt like a kid again.
