Ok, so I just bought a new MBP 15". I also just bought two new iPhone 4's. When I registered the phones and MBP, does it automatically activate the one year warranty? If so, where can I find that information. I ask because I sold my 3gs iPhone and am curious about transferring the warranty. Thanks.

You don't need to do anything to activate the 1-year, standard warranty. It takes effect as soon as you purchase your Mac or iPhone.

Warranties are attached to the product itself, not the owner. Even if you didn't register your computer, or it is in someone else's name, you're able to obtain warranty service.

Transfer of warranty is a non-issue on Apple products.
