This is a silly question, but I'm confused. I installed the trial version of Parallels last night and now I have a folder in my apps folder instead of just an icon for Parallels. Did I install it at the wrong place? Should there be a folder?
When Finder opens there's the guides and everything. Is there a way to put the folder somewhere else and just have the icon on the apps folder?

It's OK where it is. Certain applications (MS Office is a good example) will create a separate folder within the applications folder keeping the icon(s) to launch within its own folder.

If you like, open the Parallels folder and drag the launch icon to your dock and choose "keep in dock". Then you'll be able to launch Parallels directly from your dock by clicking on it.

Regards.

A lot of apps have folders instead of just the app package. It's best to just leave it where it is. It's not like you will ever need to access it from there.

Just dragging the icon to the Dock keeps it there as a quick-launch by default. No need to do anything beyond that.
