I had the same dilemma as you, but even less because my library is only 32GB right now so It's about the 80GB model :p. Go with the Classic, you will enjoy the extra capacity and battery life. The Touch is cool and new, but it isn't practical for you. The worst feeling is scrolling to where an artist should be on your iPod, only to find that they didn't sync because you didn't have enough room

Ok can we get them BOTH combined?? I stood in line an forked out $600 for an iPhone as did a lot of people.
The iPod is the best selling digital music player so why not make an 60gb or bigger iPod touch. They made a super 24" iMac. Can't they do the same for their iPod line.
I have an 80 gb 5th gen iPod but the touch screen/widescreen on my iPhone would have convinced me to get an iPod touch. But 16gb is not gonna convince me to get one. I've already scaled down my library to fit stuff on my iPhone. I want my WHOLE library with me in full screen.
I won't buy one until it get's to 60gb. It will be worth the cost.
And since it runs OS X I'm sure Apple will somehow get the most out of the battery.

No, not combined, at least there's a choice, imagine if the classic was not available...flash drives are not that big yet.

Yes they made a 24" imac, but at the moment no they can't do the equivalent for the ipod and price it reasonably, and how much bigger/heavier would be acceptable for an ipod? About the battery, it probably has to do more with the screen size than OSX.

I remember the day when I had my PSP. I had a 512mb card for it, somehow I fit almost 800 songs on that baby! When space gets small, you work with it! I seriously was the memory master. I recently found a cd of some of the songs I put on my PSP three years ago and I see how bad quality they were, but heck, I was on the go and I could have a lot more with me. Seriously, they say with the 5gig iPod it was 1000 songs on the go, in ur pocket. Heck, I could have changed that one to 10,000 songs in ur pocket!

I'm just glad I don't have to do that again. I currently have a 3.75g (at full itunes quality) in my music library, and about 4g in my video library. Now that doesn't include all my ripped DVD's which are on my PC cuz they are all huge. Jus for the sake of coolnes, I have a lot of videos encoded at decent quality, and then have like two videos encoded at the best quality, to show off when friends ask. you know, like commercials and stuff.

Program: What do you use?
I'm trying FFMPEGX and failing, miserably.

VisualHub. It does basically anything to mp4, has presets for all kinds of devices, etc. It's a great program, albeit $24 worth of great. I've found it worthwhile. I can queue up an entire anime series, regardless of format, set a destination directory, and have it spit out 26 perfect little iPhone/iPodtouch-sized mp4 files ready to be imported into iTunes.
