Normal Memory Usage for "Kernel_Task"

My kernel_task (process 0) is using more than 100mb of ram and more than a gig of virtual memory. Is this normal? It is currently the biggest user of ram on my system.

thats the Mach Kernel i.e. the core of OS X. looks to be perfectly fine.

in general dont worry about all the processes. just view your processes as theyre the ones that you should only be controlling or worrying about.
