Norton Mcafee pop up notifications

Recently I have been getting unwanted pop up notifications for either Mcafee or Noton AV

Running 11.2.1 on an iMac. I have not installed either.

Scan with free version of Malwarebytes finds nothing.

It's regular Notification that slides out from the upper right for a couple of seconds but is then viewable by clicking on the date at the upper right.

They come maybe every half hour.
I have never use an anti virus with my mac

Go to Safari preferences -> Notifications. Do you see a website called captcha-sourcecenter.com or similar? Sounds like a website notification masquerading as a system notification.

You can also check the main System Preferences notifications out as well.

Yep this is definitely a web notification from some shady site.

My default browser is Vivaldi, but I do use Safari to order medications from Caremark, and did so very recently. I don't see Notifications when I go to Safari preferences. Where exactly is it?

On my Mac System Preferences > Notifications I do not see anything for Norton or that captcha site - nearly all the apps are set to OFF. There is a red dot over the bell in Notifications.

Given this is malware, what should I do? I tried looking for Noton and captcha on Spotlight but nothing odd came up.

Then it's probably coming from Vivaldi. Check in the settings for notifications. I'm not sure where exactly it will be located since I don't use that browser.

Thanks for the reply, but just this evening I believe I have a solution. After asking at the Vivaldi (my browser) forum I got the suggestion to check on the notifications settings within Chrome itself (Vivaldi uses Chrome). It turned out that there was an entry for captcha-sourcecenter (.) com in the section of the Chrome settings that allows notifications. I removed that entry and so far so good. I guess some site I landed on was able to add that entry.
