It’s all down to user preference, Mac OS has built in security and protection against malware and viruses, but some users may want that additional level of protection.

Norton makes an application for Mac OS so BT can recommend it to users. I don’t think you’re going to change BT’s mind on what they recommend.

What is the best way to notify BT that the advice which they are giving is incorrect?
I wouldn't bother.

People do install AV software on Macs. This one is on the App Store, but Norton AV has a reputation causing problems on Macs.

You should try DetectX Swift, an excellent alternative to Malwarebytes.

Incidentally don’t BT have a user forum? Surety it’s a better place to discuss this matter?

Thank you for mentioning DetectX Swift.

Yes, BT does have a user forum, but I've never enjoyed my posting experiences there.

I wouldn't install "Norton" stuff on any computer TBH. It's no longer anything to do with Peter Norton, who is a respected figure in PC history, and is a slow, resource-hungry POS.
