not all photos transferring from iphone X to PC

trying to import all my photos from my iphone onto my windows 10 PC. i am able to see the my photos in the DCIM folder but when i go to cut/paste them onto my desktop only a handful transfer over.

any idea what im doing wrong?

The problem might be cut and paste. Cut implies that the photos on the iPhone will be deleted. I don't think Windows can write to the iPhone file system, so that part fails. Try using copy...

yep...again i'm able to see my photos in the DCIM folder in file explorer...its just when i try to copy paste the photos from my phone onto my desktop its only importing a couple of them and not all of them

to give an example i just selected about 45 photos in the DCIM folder, copy and pasted into a new folder i made and it only imported like 20 of them.

EDIT: well i tried changing the usb port i had my phone plugged into...that did allow me to copy more but eventually after about 2 minutes it gave me an error code that said a device that was plugged in stopped functioning or something
