Not allowing iTunes to start automatically

When I plug an iPod Touch into my MBP or a PC, iTunes starts automatically. Is there way to make it such that iTunes doesn't automatically but rather, when I say to start it? Thank you.
 
Here's an easier way: in the iPod panel (when it's connected to iTunes), there's an option for that:
