Design wise, it looks good, but the functionality? I'm not sure about, I like the CD/DVD/Burner's where they are at, to your right, I think that's more like a portable desktop than anything.

Funny isn't it, the guys here complain about the narrow-mindedness of PC owners yet exhibit the same thing when it comes to PC's. It's not a laptop, it's a transportable. The keyboard comes off too. An all-in-one LANparty PC if you will, or for people like me who do like the idea of a transportable desktop (the reason why I bought the MBP17). For occasional transport it wouldn't make a huge difference over the 17" MBP in terms of 'portability' and it's a much better-specced machine.

Hmmm. I was thinking about buying a spare MBP 17" for when that machine develops yet another problem but I guess I can consider this too. Honestly if it weren't for OS X these days I've come to the conclusion I wouldn't touch Apple hardware with a barge pole - Nice-looking, nicely-designed, poorly engineered and unreliable. I'll bet that Dell would have a better shot at a trouble-free life.

I originally thought 20" laptops were ridiculous, but a couple of people have pointed out how if you live in a tiny flat a desktop replacement is a great idea, and I can definitely agree with that.

However, that particular one is ugly as sin. :p

if you're a sales rep and need to present to customers it's a great thing. basically for everthing that doesn't need real portability beyond carrying it from your car to a client it would be great. i can see a market for that. for e.g. when you go for your weekends to your weekend house or for a week to a cabin on a skiing vacation where you also need to do some work.
