Just opened my new iPad 64gb and connect it to my PC. It is at 97% charged, but when connected to my PC... it says "Not Charging". Is this normal? Plugging it into the wall outlet, shows the battery icon and shows it is charging.

This is normal, your pc is just not putting out enough power to charge the iPad. As ^ said, get a powered hub, or use the power adapter.

Read the support article linked by Sneakz. A PC displaying "not charging" because of underpowered USB will still charge the iPad when the screen is sleeping. You just can't see it saying "charging" obviously. :D

It only charges when the screen is off.
I left mine connected to my PC at 67% charge last night while it said "Not Charging" and when I woke up this morning it was at 100%.

Well, I got a Unibody Macbook Pro 2.4 and yes the iPad (32gb wifi) would not charge from any port using the USB cable that came with the iPad. When I use the USB CORD for my iPHONE 3G on it, it charges from EITHER PORT.

Haven't tried it on anything else, but I do know that the USB Cable that came with it is worthless to me as I only charge from my Macbook. If ya ask me :apple:'s up to something........

Oh yes they are definitely up to something!!

Why wouldnt you just use the included AC adapter that will charge it in half the time your MacBook will..

just easier for me how i have everything set up to leave it plugged in overnight.....

O i just tested the two cords on my Dell Desktop and same results, so I say its the cords.
Something else I found out is when i close my Macbook the iPhone keeps charging, but the iPad doesn't.

I have the same issue at work. I just find it annoying that the USB ports on my Dell monitor aren't powered enough to satisfy my iPad. (But my annoyance is with Dell, not Apple -- the monitor has its own power supply, why not send a little of that juice to the USB ports?)
