Suddenly, when I try to mirror my Mac to my Apple TV, there's no picture. I haven't changed anything in my setup, or any settings. I get sound, but even that abruptly turned off after several minutes the last time I tried AirPlay to Apple TV.

I tried Sleep Now on the Apple TV, and restarting the Mac, but that didn't help. I'm not sure what to try next. I'd appreciate some ideas.

to reboot the aTV, in addition to the menu option that barbu suggested, you can also hold the top 2 buttons on the remote (menu and TV) for a few seconds till the light on the aTV starts to flash. (this uses IR, so the fronts of the remote and aTV must "see" each other)

Also, try rebooting your router and other network gear, this clears up airplay issues a lot of the time.

I'm sure this isn't what's happening to you, but I've got a shortcut that start airplay from my phone, It's set to go to living room. Although it can't make up it's mind which device in the living room it's supposed to go to (Apple TV, HomePod, sound bar, or TV) so if you've got multiple devices with the same room name, just verify you've selected the correct one

Success! I don't know if it was rebooting the router or restarting the Apple TV. I did both before mirroring.
Thanks for the help! I didn't think about the router, and had never noticed the restart in settings before.
