I don’t want to miss any of the special AW challenges such as the ones for earth day etc and I never get notified about these even though I have “Special Challenges” selected in the watch app
Thanks in advance

I have it enabled as well on my watch and never get notified about any challenges. The only way I find out is through macrumors.
Wow so I’m not the only one, this is insane. I missed 3 good challenges because of this. How do you ensure you know there’s an upcoming challenge though? I visit macrumors homepage quite often as well but I don’t get to read each and every post on the main page so I might miss the upcoming challenge article

I don’t get notified either. I keep a close eye on the watch forum. That is how I find out.

I have the Tapatalk app and added MacRumors and iMore as groups. Every time someone post about a challenge I see it. I’m on the app everyday reading an article or two so I don’t miss a notification about any challenges or updates to Watch OS, iOS or iPad OS.

i dont use taptalk, is there a way to set up such an alert here on the forums?

I also use an App called AppleInsider which informs readers of Apple challenges as well. Like for instance on June 21st, users will get an award for completing a yoga workout.

I should’ve been more clear when I mentioned the app. I don’t get notifications of Apple challenges. Once a week I use the search bar and search for Apple challenges and the articles that are discussing them show up.

I see, that still requires running a manual search to find out then which is less than ideal. I can’t believe there is no way to fix this issue the proper way and be notified on the Watch by Apple and not by some third party app or source that there’s an upcoming challenge. I really care about these special watch achievements and dont like missing out on them

I’m the same way about these challenges. Before iOS 13, I used to get the notifications about upcoming challenges.

Thanksgiving challenge upcoming on Thursday guys

P.S this issue with not getting notified about upcoming AW achievements is STILL not fixed as of Nov 25.

I just completed the Thanksgiving challenge. I didn't get a medal.
Throughout the day, the Thanksgiving challenge medal was on my awards page (darkened). I completed all three rings, and the 5k challenge, but alas, no medal was given to me!

I received the medal, not sure what the issue is on your end. It’s a pink emblem this year, last year was a purple one

Yeah, I completed the Thanksgiving 5k challenge, and the medal was not given. Don't know why. Quite disappointing actually.

I did get the Veteran's day medal. I completed the challenge, and was given medal.

I didn't my Thanksgiving challenge medal after I completed the 3.1 mile walk. I had to turn off/on both the watch and iphone then I got the medal maybe 5 mins later. Have you tried that?

I got both the Veteran's Day and the Thanksgiving challenge awards. I was notified of them coming up and of them being awarded.

Thank you. I did. There's a glitch in the system. Arghhh...maybe next year.

I haven't gotten any special award challenge notifications at all this year. I was awarded the National Parks Challenge badge for the year and one other early in the year one (can't remember now) but both have since disappeared from my phone. I completed the Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving Day challenges and didn't get either award. I am on the current iOS for my phone and watch and had to unpair/reset my watch to get to the newest update (Series 3 issues). I know I have also gotten special challenge awards (and notifications) in the two years I've owned my watch and they're all gone too.

I understand Apple is getting more into analyzing trends and switching between calling it Fitness or Activity, but the awards were a fun motivator and it's all a little disappointing.

Does anyone have a solution to the native Apple Watch missing notifications of special challenges? Apple forums don’t have this issue recorded.

I see the awards I’ve earned as well as tomorrow’s incomplete heart month challenge but I did not get any notification of the event. I forget how long been going on, at least most recent and maybe since getting new Apple Watch series 6. For awhile I turned off coaching b/c the almost there reminders are irritating. I have goal completions off as they are irritating. I have special challenges turned on as these are what I want and don’t get. My husband has series 6 and got them on old iPhone SE (2016) as well as new iPhone 12 mini. I have XS.

Ive rebooted watch and phone but don’t see point of repairing as just did that when got series 6 in October. I just now if not before tried turning off then on special challenge in settings and rebooEd phone and watch. I’m obsessed to get all the awards so really want to get notified.

Hope someone has solution.

Also in this thread is some have problem of awards disappearing and I had that for one of challenges but just took a couple days to see earned award for me.

i‘m really interested in the missing notification solution (without 3rd party app or Google search for list)
