Hi, new poster here. My company recently purchased the MacBook Retina 15 for me. I have been using a 2011 Mac Air and gave it to someone else I work with in favor of the Retina. The screen on the Retina is quite amazing, but the system is sluggish at times, the lag isn't exactly a show stopper, but annoying. To be honest, my old air felt snappier in day to day use even though from a specification standpoint the air is well outdated compared to the pro retina.
I choose the Retina because I do windows development inside a VM and I found the 1440x900 resolution a bit restrictive for Visual Studio. But running VMs under Retina has it's own set of issues negating (at least for me) the resolution advantage. So I am considering moving back to the Air (purchasing a 2012 model maxed out).
Anyone who uses VMs care to comment on my scenario ?
