What format is the external drive in? Apple Extended, FAT32 or NTFS? I assume it is not Apple format or Windows would not be able to read it.

If that is the case, try repairing the drive from your Windows machine. If that doesn't work, back it up and reformat.

My suggestions:

- Take the drive back to a Windows machine that can "see" it.

- Copy anything you want to save to the Windows machine (for now)

- Take the drive to the Mac and reinitialize it using "Fat32". It should mount on the Mac desktop.

- Take the drive to the Windows machine -- does it mount there now?

- If so, copy the data you saved (on the PC) BACK TO the drive.

- NOW take it to the Mac. Does it mount? Does the data "show up" ??
