Recently my mac gave me a blinking folder image with a question mark upon start up. The hard drive was corrupted and I purchased a new hard drive and installed it. However the computer does not seem to be recognizing the hard drive when I try to reinstall the OS. Any ideas?

But when I go to Disc utility it doesn't list the hard drive. It lists the cd rom drive and the install disc in the cd rom drive.

Have you made sure the connection between HDD and MacBook is tight?

What Mac do you have and what specific HDD did you buy?

I have a white mac book from the white and black mac book generation
and the drive is a western digital SATA notebook harddrive.
