So I recently had my hard drive brick, so I bought a new one.

I couldn't find my install disks for my OS, so I bought two off eBay.
These didn't work, and said something like "Os cannot be installed on this computer" or something relatively close.

Which OS will run on my PC?
I have no backups of the old on, and no working installation disks.
Here are my currently specs

MacBook Pro
2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB Ram
500 New Seagate HDD
Originally released mid 2009

I believe this would work, but don't want to waste anymore money

According to Mactracker, your machine should work with OS X all the way up to Mountain Lion. Is the hard drive correctly formatted for a Mac?

When you buy second hand install discs, you need the Retail disc, which for Snow Leopard Looks like this:

rather than the grey discs like this:

and are specific to one computer.

So that one from Amazon should work.
