Shows how subjective this kinda stuff is. I hated the smart keyboard the first time I tried it in the store. Then I got one because it seemed like a nice fit (to at least try out) for my pro and now I can't imagine typing on anything else. I try typing on a MacBook now and I hated it. How strange is that? I remote into my desktop more often than I need to just because I like typing on my smart keyboard so much

I'm typing this on my smart keyboard and I personally think it's fantastic. Especially with the autocorrect bat at the bottom of the screen.

It's expensive for what it is but its light weight and portable which is what I wanted.

inam not crazy about the Apple smart keyboard. I guess am missing not having backlight and I keep reaching for a touchpad. Volume key would have been really nice since the silicone case makes the volume keys hard to push. I also like the angle of the Smart Cover much better. It also just feels clumsy and floppy for 170.00. I understand what it's design purpose is but the onscreen keyboard works for me with its bigger size and being able to move the cursor with 2 fingers is great. If we could just get 2 finger mouse control over the entire screen it would be awesome.

I don't miss a backlight (though certainly for the price we should be getting it) but I hate the keyboard due to the abysmal key feel, lack of a home button showing the complete lack of understanding of user behaviour and the weak magnet which causes the iPad to constantly tip over (and in one case, fall off my lap). I've had some Apple stinkers in my time but in terms of fundamental design and engineering crapfests this is one of the worst efforts in a while IMO.

Heading back to the Apple Store today and trading in my white setup (silver IPP, white silicone and white Smart Cover)

Going space gray and thinking of getting the smart keyboard this time. Was not a fan when trying in store but I need a front cover and do type a lot of emails for work so may try it due to convenience versus the magic keyboard I am using now.

I hate returning stuff and feel like a noob

I generally use the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard when I'm at home, and must use the software keyboard when I'm away from home. I wasn't really feeling the Smart Keyboard, but that's just my personal preference.

I've just started with the smart keyboard and I'm not a big fan of it at the moment but it seems the best of all the alternatives. The Logitech is better, but it's just too bulky and heavy. I hate to say it, but I actually found the Surface's keyboard cover to be better.

OK, couple hours in and I love the keyboard now. Works fantastic on the lap and after typing sitting down at a desk and lap wise versus the half hour or so in the store standing up it has me sold.

Yes it is a little clumsy and take sometime to get used to folding and using as a stand only but it offers great screen coverage and the keyboard is right there if you need it.

Pricey, but works great.
