I don't really agree with threads like this as most users probably don't.
I have both the iPhone 4 and the Nexus One. I love both (apart from the damn signal on my iPhone 4)

Can I just point something very obvious out, Android is not built for a single device like iOS. iOS is designed for the iPhone and that is why it runs so well in comparison to Android on such a vast array of devices. Each company that releases 'yet another' Android phone doesn't make a version of Android that is specific to that device, it is just based off a core version, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2 etc.

If you take something like the Nexus One for instance, this phone is the closest to the iPhone you're going to get by comparison. Purely because Google made it and Google designed Android 2.1 onwards to be based off of this device.

People have pointed out that they don't like the UI on Android as well. Can anyone actually say they ever liked the UI on a phone such as the old Nokias where it was 'Menu' on the one side and 'Contacts' on the other or something? I highly doubt anyone really cared about that but they still bought those phones in the millions and still do.
Just because someone doesn't like a design doesn't mean that it is inferior to another. Especially the iPhone's UI that's now been exactly the same since day one. So what, Apple added wallpapers? This was a feature of the above mentioned nokias of years ago and yet people still rave about how awesome it is just because Apple did it.

Just felt like ranting because I was bored and I'm sick of people talking blindly about things they clearly know nothing about. Rant Fin.

HTC made the Nexus One, Google just put their name on it. They did not design it, just the OS.

I run LauncherPro+ on mine and there's no lag. I have a lot of widgets on it also. It runs a lot smoother with just a wallpaper than with live wallpaper. You have to take that into consideration also.

And... wait for Froyo to compare the iPhone 4 to 2.2 Android devices. It's SO much faster than 2.1 in basically every aspect. That's a much fairer battle.

Also... the iOS4 is a LOT less complex. It's just simple icons.

I was under the impression that google worked closely with the HTC designers to create a phone that exceeded anything that was already out there. They set the bar exceedingly, in so far that only recently have android phones started surpassing what the Nexus could do. Before this, android phones were rather lack luster and under spec'd

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-gb; Nexus One Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

My homescreen doesn't suffer from lag on my Streak or my N1 thankfully. As a platform, android is always evolving and is quickly getting better and better.

One thing that is laggy is iOS4 on my wife's iPhone 3g. I detest even unlocking the thing! On my 32gb iPod touch it is smooth as butter tho which is nice.

Reminds me of the Sony Ericsson X1. That was manufactured by HTC, but branded by SE.

Outsourcing is common practice in business and technology. Nothing is really 100%. Even the A4 is designed by Apple, but manufactured by Samsung.
