I have the 13" M2 air and the notch is a non-issue for my use. I can understand some people being OCD and it's bothering them but I'm not OCD about that. If I had to pick a negative about the notch is when something is in full screen, it blacks out the portion of the screen to the left and right of the notch. Basically you lose about 1 cm of screen on top. I rarely use full screen so this doesn't bother me.
I have a 13” Air M2, and now a 15” Air M2. While the notch does not really bother me, it feels less obtrusive on the 15” because it uses a lower percentage of the task bar on the larger device.

I mean sure it would be ideal if there was no notch I suppose but going from a machine with thicker bezels to the 15'' Air, I'll take the reduced bezels with the notch, which doesn't even cover the entire menu bar.
I do notice the notch on my M2 Air 13 but don't on my M1 MBP 16. I think the size of the screen matters. My MBP is also space gray while my Air is Starlight. I think the contrast also helps highlight the notch on the smaller screen. It doesn't bother me but I do notice it.
I think they designed the software to adapt to it such that it ought to not be a nothing burger for most use cases. It seems like they did a much better job of it with the MacBooks than they did with the iPhones. I'm just glad that they haven't inflicted the iPad with it.
I'm glad that there's still a MacBook Pro option with a current chip that doesn't have the notch. Yes, I'd like MagSafe 3 and more ports, but I hate the notch more than I need those ports.
