My dad has a Galaxy Note 2 and a 2013 iMac. He wants to download his phone's videos onto his Mac with ease and play them over airplay from his Mac.

My S2 Lte has a mass storage option but from what I have read online that no longer exists on the Note 2.

So his only option right now is to use the Samsung Kies app to download the videos then find them on his mac and play them with VLC.

Is there another option like using iMove to download the videos? He doesn't want to root his phone or anything crazy.

    Thanks in advance!

Why can't he just drag and drop from his Note 2 to his iMac using Android File Transfer? I just pulled out my old Note 2, took a brief video, connected it to my Mac, dragged it from my Note 2 to my Mac desktop, took all of about 10 seconds.

And 'play them over AirPlay from his iMac' to what, an Apple TV? I sent that same video to one of my Apple TVs via AirPlay mirroring (watched with Quicktime player). If you import it into iTunes, you can AirPlay stream it.

Download android file transfer and you should just be able to do it through usb. You also can use es file explorer and copy them on the phone to a network share.

I use dropbox to upload all my pictures and movies to my computer. He could always open a free account and then move the movies to a different folder once uploaded.
