Woke up this morning to find the update ready to go on my phone. I just got this Note 3 about a week and a half ago and was really liking it. Went ahead and made the jump to 5.0.......

I regret doing that. I regret it, regret it, and I think I regret it. I don't have a PC but I have a friend that is good with phones and helped me do some stuff to my old Galaxy S3. Going to text him Thursday to see what he can do to get me back on 4.4.4 and stay there.

    What don't you like?

You can always downgrade via Odin with 4.4.4 firmware from Sammobile (depending if they didn't update your boot loader otherwise you could be stuck on 5.0.1)

Pretty much everything on the phone and how it runs now. So many things have changed, and to be honest, I don't see the benefit of any of them based on my usage. The lockscreen is one of the major things, which now has Verizon Wireless up in the notification bar, where the small white icons would be letting me know there is an email, sms, and the temperature. I like to keep my phone fairly private with notifications and who they are from and what they contain. I have always done that, and it seems like Android is moving more and more away from that. Everything seems to just be boom in your face and right out in the open. I sometimes receive information sensitive emails, not necessarily NSA stuff, but stuff that I want to remain private.

The fact that I am not too familiar with bootloaders, rooting, etc. and the fact that I only have a Mac mini makes this a rather difficult task. There was an attempt a while ago by myself to work on my Galaxy S3 which failed, not due to me, but due to the fact that I didn't have the proper backup or something. If I could go back to yesterday morning, I would have not updated the phone and just left it. Should have done some more research and watched reviews on it to see if it was really what I wanted instead of jumping the gun like I did.

Not sure what you mean by so many things have changed. I disagree. In fact not much has changed at all really.
Sounds like a Verizon issue more than Lollipop. AT&T just has the 4G LTE thing up there but it's small. Notification wise, I get what you're describing on my lock screen.

That's a configuration thing. It can be adjusted.

You don't need to bootload anything.

HEavy, you can disable the lockscreen notifications.

If I want to roll back to 4.4.4, which I heavily do, I would need a PC/access to a PC, the OS, and more than likely root access. I don't have any of those things.

No Lollipop update on the Galaxy Note 3 yet in the UK which is frustrating. Seems all the carrier versions have got it but the official BTU is still missing!

It could be worse as the latest Kitkat ROM is as stable as a concrete block, but it would be nice if the note 3 got a bit of loving.

Enjoy KK while you can. I am not that impressed with 5.x so far at all.
