So after 4 months with the device there are things I love and hate about it.
I enjoy the huge range of apps and most of them being free as well.
Having an array or settings and customizations are a gift & curse at the same time.
Based off Apple ease of use and lack of settings, I am tempted to make the switch back to them.

Bixby is a good help in navigating the settings if you aren't sure where to find something.

If you want to switch back, then go with what makes you happy.

The only "real" frustration with me is the MMS texting. I can live with it because its only family, but I got another "why did you get rid of your iPhone again?" comment from my wife yesterday as we were riding home from Church, and had taken some Easter pictures of the family. Two of my daughter's sent the pics to the family message stream. It took 10 minutes of discussion about how crappy they all were before I asked (I was driving), did you include me in the group message? An annoyed, "yes", and then they re-sent them in GroupMe and loaded to our family Google Photos share. Its just friction, and while I love my Note 8, I am annoying my family members sometimes. I don't have any plans of switching back, but this to me seems to be the thing that the rest of the world MUST find a way to resolve somehow or Apple will continue to grow their share in the US until they push everyone else out.

Sounds like it just isn't for you.

Get yourself a iPhone 8 Plus.

Get a X, it's a completely different experience from previous Apple devices.
I'd recommend you stick with the Note a little longer, you might be having a "switch crisis".

May I ask how you got the group messaging to work after you switched to android?

Not sure what you are asking? You can group message with iPhones and Android without a problem, it just dramatically decreases the quality of images and videos.

For me it doesn't work at all. I'm not getting the messages from the group chats I had on the iPhone. Have read people saying that the other people in the chat needs to delete the threads and so on that's why I asked if you or the other in your thread did something.

Probably do to having iMessage on. All my group chats worked fine as far as I am aware.

This could be true. Played with the X. Bit more today. I will admit that price isn't a concern it just a judgmental decision when I just brought a Note 8 and then go and buy another iPhone just for the operating difference. On top of that do you get the 8 plus or jump on the latest and greatest x?

You can still switch between both or use one as the daily driver and another for home/media. Better get the X since it's unique unlike the 8 Plus which is just the same iPhone 6 Plus brick and outdated.

Did you turn off iMessages before getting rid of the iPhone? I did that and had no problem continuing messages on Android. The key is to get to green bubble before retiring the iPhone.

You miss the iphone at all yet?

No... I think I'd have a really hard time going back. There are certainly things I like and don't like on both sides of the fence, but the only meaningful friction is with my family message threads where they all have iPhones. For the most part we use GroupMe and Google Photos family share, but every once in a while someone forgets and starts sending pictures around that look like crap. Then they remember, my wife sighs at me, and we are back on track.

But so many things I love... like last night I was surprised when we were having a Duo video call with my daughter and her fiance, and I needed to check my work calendar in Outlook. I was surprised that when I went back to home to go to Outlook, the "picture in picture" of Duo session kept the conversation going... part of Oreo. Amazing!

Also, I have a Surface Pro and use the pen for notes... being able to bring that up in OneNote on my phone and edit the ink is pretty cool.

I've not seen any performance degradation like so many folks promised would happen. My Gear S3 is still being loved, but for some reason the rotating dial is now a little hard to rotate so need to figure out how to resolve. This where the lack of a Samsung "store" like Apple has is frustrating.

Nice. You seem to really be enjoying it.
Was the picture in picture automatic or was did you have to enable it?

Since Oreo update , picture in picture is automatic!! Love it. It works with Maps too. Before the update it works with video chatting. That's one of the best features.

I thought you are all in for the iPhone x. Did you get it already?

Purchased it and have been using it for a week off an on trying to see if it worth the 1100 price tag. How is PIP automatic on the Note 8? I had to swipe down from a screen corner to get it to work.

All you have to do is press the home button. It automatically goes into Pip mode.

So if your using maps and press the home button it goes in PIP mode?

I have not seen this happen on my device. I usually have to swipe down from the screens top corner.

Not sure I would want PIP activated all the time.

Any other apps you noticed this with? Anyway to enable or disable? ( I would like to test this feature out)

Yes. That's what happens. Same with YouTube. Make sure you're on Samsung experience 9.0

If you are using Maps, and go anywhere that is not the Maps app, you automatically get Maps in PIP. You don't need to do anything to enable it. Once PIP is going, you can X out of it, or maximize to get back to the full screen. You can also drag the PIP around on the screen anywhere you want.

To disable it, go to Settings–>Apps & notifications–>App info–>Go to the app–>Advanced–>Picture-in-Picture–>toggle off “Allow picture-in-picture”. This is only possible for Apps that support PIP, which is a small list presently.

- Google Maps
- Whatsapp... think this is in beta
- Google Duo
- Google Chrome... while watching videos, but only on some sites. Not for YouTube
- Facebook... for videos
- VLC
- YouTube... but only if you have YouTube Red. This seems like a stupid restriction.

Sure enough tried it today and I got the PIP while I was using maps. Not 100% sure how I feel about ut, but it was unique.
[doublepost=1523554331][/doublepost]This phone has way too many settings lol.

As for pip, I want to return to full size with 1 tap but I have to tap twice and tap the full size button to go back to full size. That's the only annoyance I see.

Anyone have the dialer keypad tones sounds enabled?

It seems awfully low...
Is that normal? (Not loud at all)
