I really appreciate this service. I know not to go near my computer for like 12 hours before and only to go near it after I get home from work. (Which is hard since I work in a computer lab.)

Let the posts about how the email is always late begin..... NOW! :D

the spoiler-free email has always been late.. usually comes a day or two after the event.. what the heo?

I'm not able to contain myself this time. The keynote starts at 6pm UK time, and the stream won't be available till 10pm. If it was during the day, like it is in America, I could easily go about my day and watch it spoiler free later, but because it is at night time, I just can't wait.

I'll be pressing F5 on Engadget like a 14 year old who's just discovered porn on a dial up connection.

Few hours.
Haha, I'm in the same position as you. There's no way I can wait to watch the keynote!

I usually post a direct link to the stream in the spoiler-free threads.

ya void thank u so much... much appreciated

And nobody noticed the links I posted prior to the last release worked for Lets Rock :( .

The same will likely hold true for this, as they tend to stick with similar URLs. Besides that, refreshing http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/ ((WARNING perhaps not spoiler free)) is a good bet, as it points to the last uploaded Apple event.

I wish Apple would post the QuickTime video before the actual live event. Then we readers of MacRumors wouldn't have to put up with the suspense as long while waiting until the event actually happens. ;)

but that page contains spoilers

How does it contain spoilers? It is the URL that points to the most recent Apple event. It is currently pointed to the previous "Lets Rock" event.

What I don't get is the fact that Apple used to stream these events live while also showing off their Quiktime Streaming Server back in 1999 - 20001 (?). Now almost 10 years later with much more Broadband and streaming capabilities, they make us wait hours after an event to post up a video!

Perhaps to give Press justification for traveling out to Cupertino or San Fransisco (when there is an event there). Bah! Just makes me cranky thinking about it ;) .

On a Mac? in my setup it does nothing... Are you reading MacRumors on a PC?

I was thinking back to when I was 14 and on a dialup connection, and back then I used a PC :p Although I'm on a PC as my MacBook Pro is away being repaired.

The iPod Nano was pictured there when it was originally posted. So even before you clicked on the video, you knew exactly what the new Nano looked like and what the whole rainbow thing was about.

Same would happen for the notebook one - it would end up revealing the new MacBook or something.

When Apple updates that page for the latest event, the page almost always contains a line describing what was unveiled, which you inevitably see before you can even click on the "watch" button. The introduction of the original iPhone was one example — I prematurely found out about the iPhone's existence before I could watch the Stevenote because of that page ("Watch Steve Jobs unveil the new iPhone" or something along those lines), even though I was literally peeking at it through my fingers looking for the button to click.

The iPod Nano <snip>

When Apple <snip>

Oh my! Duh! Good points

I was actually thinking about the other type of link that usually opens the video directly. They will likely (don't quote me on this ;) ) make the link in one of the following formats.

Possibilities for Tuesday's event ((WARNING PERHAPS NOT SPOILER FREE))
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/specialevent1008/
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/specialevent08/
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/Notebooks/

During the Lets Rock event, I had three URLs continually refreshing that I thought may be possible video links. The nice thing is, when the one link became active, I suddenly get audio and BAM! I knew the keynote is up, because the video is playing and also avoided all spoilers!

My not work with this event, but it's worth a shot to have those URLs (or similar) reloading using reload every, while you watch this thread. ;)

::EDIT::

My logic is still flawed :( .

There is no 100% way to not receive a spoiler this route either, unless you cheat and setup a script to open Quiktime links automatically. I would share mine, however it is quite tricky to get working, and TOTALLY forgot that it isn't a standard feature in browsers. Kinda a crucial step (That I totally forgot to mention) in my personal spoiler free setup  .

So yeah ignore this post :p

MacRumors Spoiler-Free page is still the best choice for us.. however, as some have said, it has one spoiler!
After following the link (that directs us to the quicktime page at apple.com), there's always a big screenshot of a quicktime window with a (significant) scene from the keynote, just like last time with t0he new Nano.

So this time I asked my mom (who couldn't care less about the new macbooks) to open Apple.com, click on the "watch keynote" link and close Safari, so I can watch the keynote in peace.

And, of course, I didn't read ANY rumor articles about the new Macbooks, didn't see the photos nor the video. So I hope there will be some surprises for me!

Can you [or someone else for that matter] do us all a favor and let us know when that happens?

So that way we can just follow a link when we get home, instead of having to wait for an email or check apple.com?

void usually does it...

void do u mind checking again this time around?

Am so looking forward to tonight. Lets hope no one posts spoilers in this thread like for the iPod event. That still makes me mad today.. grrrrr

Quicktime streams

Just a quick note: it is possible to give a direct link to the quicktime streams, but I think the URL's for that are variable. It's all quite complicated, but last keynotes quicktime URL's were flying around, some working others not.
The best way is for someone to keep people updated here and giving new URL's for the stream.

Although I'm hoping for more, I fear this may be another slim event, with maybe 10 minutes of good stevenote, 20 minutes of less interesting info and 20 minutes of demo, followed by 10 minutes of random stuff, and no more one more thing.

I might not even make it to wait until it's up and just check the apple site.

If I do, I'll keep you guys posted on the status of the stream.

And one more thing: don't wait for the e-mail, check the forum...

well, sure! But.. how do I do that? I mean where do I find the link that points DIRECTLY to the keynote stream? (not the quicktime page at apple.com)
