Notes app closes 1 second after opening

Hi all,

I'm not sure when this started happening, as I don't use Notes that much on my MBP, but when I click on the icon in the Dock, it opens, but then closes a second later.

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1 if that helps.

First thing I'd try is deleting the preferences file. I assume doing so is similar to how it has to be done in Mavericks.
