Notes app has keyboard lag, but no other apps do...

I have about 4,000 notes in Apple Notes. I notice significant keyboard lag in Notes, but not in any other app.

Has anyone else seen this? I'm hoping for clues on how to resolve it.

Too many notes? That is a quite a lot, I believe that goes beyond notes in my mind.

YES! I created 'archive' folders and moved notes into them by year.

This seems to have solved the problem. Thank you for this tip.

This got me curious about my own Notes archive, as I tend to use it as a big filing system. I've got about 2,000 myself, but they're organized into folders and sub-folders -- so I guess that's saving me from the performance hit.
