Notes app opening to 'Recently Deleted'

The built-in iOS Notes app on my iPhone X keeps opening right to the 'Recently Deleted' page every single time I open the app, even after force closing the app. Anyone else have this issue? My work iPhone 6S Plus does not do this, it opens right to the Folders page. Anyway to stop this on my X?

Was "Recently Deleted" the last place you visited in Notes? I only see the behavior in that scenario (ie. Notes is opening what ever "tab" you were under previously).
