hey guys,

I recently found around 95 MB in the iCloud storage which were related to my notes. However, I’m pretty sure that notes never took space in iCloud. Am I missing out something?
I’m on iOS 11.3

Notes back up regardless if you have iCloud backup enabled or not.

I always set my phones up as "new" & my notes, contacts & calendars are always present.

Just make sure you sign in with the same Apple ID.

I don’t think you read understood my query.. notes backup seperately if turned on in iCloud , but they don’t take up space... in normal backups they do take up space.. now I’m seeing theirs taking up space even when iCloud sync is on

I'm not sure why you'd expect that Notes wouldn't use space in iCloud, but they do, and that's completely normal behavior. If they didn't use iCloud space, how would the notes sync between devices?

Just like contacts?

Well notes are some form of media. It has to take up some space - even though it's barely a file they can accumulate overtime.
