iPhone Notes - Recovering deleted Note

When in one of my notes on my iPhone I tried to highlight some text and by mistake I highlighted all text, then accidentally deleted all of that text. This made the Note disappear. I don’t see any ‘Recently Deleted’ folder to restore it from.

In effect I didn’t delete the note, just the text in that note, but that seems enough to have lost that note altogether.

My Notes sync between my iPhone & MacBook (which is at home, I’m away on holiday).

Is there a way of retrieving the lost Note please?

Can I turn off the sync with iCloud in the hope the text will still be there on my MacBook when I get home?

If your iPhone has internet connectivity it has already synced the change to iCloud. If it doesn't then you can go to Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud to turn of Notes sync, but that will also delete all iCloud notes from your phone.

If your MacBook is sleeping at home (not completely powered off) then it has likely also already synced the note if the PowerNap feature is enabled (I believe it is on by default). PowerNap has the MacBook sync certain things while sleeping, if a wifi network is available.

If the MacBook is fully powered down then when you get home you can try powering down your home wifi network (and any other wifi network the laptop has used in the vicinity, including iPhone hotspots) before turning the MacBook on, that way it won't have a chance to sync anything as it boots up.

Thanks, my phone hasn’t connected to the internet, before I get home I’ll turn off my iPhone, then tourn off my internet when I get home, and see if the note is still on my MacBook.

Others have pretty much covered it, but will add for those that stumble upon this thread: if you catch the mistake early (ie. Don't exit the note), Shake to Undo will get it back.

Otherwise, yes, a blank note gets wiped vs not put into the Deleted folder.

Thanks for the help, sadly the Note is lost forever, but at least it has prompted me to look into back up options.
